Eugen Sandow is a name most men ought to know. He also had a physique people believed could only be achieved in the imagination or sculpted in marble. He's known as the father of bodybuilding, but in this episode I don't want to focus on how jacked he was. Rather, I use his story to drive home a deeper point. One that we've been missing for most of our lives.
AI is here and to be honest, I'm both amazed and a bit terrified. It's astonishingly brilliant and at the same time deeply concerning. It's key that we, as men, don't bury our head in the sand on this and just assume the worse will happen. This is rapidly changing our world and we need to be up to speed on this and involved in the development.
Currently, the AI that we have access to doesn't have the reasoning capabilities that AI of the sci-fi movies displays. It mimics reason but it doesn't understand truth in the same way that we do. As AI moves in this direction, though, it will need some basis of truth -- how the world actually works -- and with truth comes the need for a necessary bias.
Although I still have a lot to learn, I've picked up a few helpful tips in writing and publishing 2 books. If you're getting started on your own book or you're just interested in the topic, you'll love this episode.
Plus, I have a special thank you for all of you who have purchased from the Wolf & Iron store AND something special to be watching for!

When you look around do you see the need for more rule followers or independent, free-thinking men and women with an ingrained rebellious nature?
I think we know the answer to that! Rebels are needed. They've always been needed but without training -- either by consequences or by parents -- they'll set fire to anything that burns. It's our job as fathers, uncles, etc. to help them to see the good in their fiery spirit and to use it to pursue justice.
Unless you've been under a rock you've probably heard about something called ChatGPT. And if you have heard of it, some of you would like to go back under the rock rather than see what the world is becoming. AI is here and it's going to change things. ChatGPT just happens to be the eye-opening tool that makes this undeniable. In truth, it's pretty incredible...and it's only getting started.
As the world progresses with technology we have seen so many of the blessings of living in a modern age. But we've also seen the pull towards laziness and ease. Men have a quiet desire to live their lives more fully and yet give in to the world of entertainment and abdication of responsibility so readily. AI will definitely present new challenges for men, but also incredible opportunities for those of us who can wield it.
Dang, I missed an episode last week! But, we have some good stuff on the way. Here's a quick episode to help you guys stay in the know about my new van (it's awesome), a new line of coffee based on the life and legend of Theodore Roosevelt, upcoming podcast guests, and more.
Hint: 2022 is not going to crush itself! Intentionality separates the men from the boys -- and those who feel fulfilled and purposeful from those who complain about the state of their life.
If you want 2022 to be a great year, you're going to have to do some things differently.
My new book, Tending the Fire, is coming out soon and I'm putting together a team! If you'd like to be part of the book launch team, sign up here https://wolfandiron.com/launch
Here's the thing: men have real issues. You're not alone in this. While I will never champion a victim mentality, it's healthy and good to recognize and name the things we're battling against.
Here are some of the challenges men all around you face on a daily basis, and the first step to overcoming them.
We talk a lot about leadership here at Wolf & Iron, but does this mean that men should always be the de facto leader?
Speaking particularly of leadership roles in the home, this episode talks about why I believe men are called to lead. Spoiler, it's not because we're always better at it.
By December 31st of 2020, the whole "vision" thing might be played out. It's a pretty obvious thing to latch on to, but all the same, it's cool right now. We need vision. We need it as men, as individuals, but also for our families and our nation.
Sometimes it takes quite a bit of digging and throwing away of the old stones to find what you're really looking for: the thing that you knew was there but only believed so by faith, not by evidence.

When family comes first, how does a man deal with postponing his passions and dreams, sometimes for years? And, are there occasions which family doesn't come first and a man needs to take care of his own needs?
What can planting pecan trees teach us about thinking generationally? We live in a society that is so focused on the next and the new that we tend to forget about how the now affects the future, particularly the future of our children and grandchildren.
Porn has become the norm for many men and women, yet the effects on our brain and relationship as a result, is devastating. Garrett Jonsson shares his experience overcoming pornography and how it affects the brain.
The concept of free will and the questioning of whether or not it exists is something that theologians and naturalists have debated for centuries. The God-fearing and the godless argue this point both within and without their circles. In this episode I throw the question out there and give a scene from the Bible as a great example of why this is such a tough question to answer.
Men are waiting longer and longer to get married, and with the rate of divorce it's easy to see why. How can a man know if he has met the girl of his dreams and that the dream won't turn into a nightmare once he ties the knot? Mike and Brandon, both successfully married men, come to the aid of men wondering if they should settle down or keep playing the field.
As a man grows, he acquires knowledge and an understanding of the value of said knowledge. He also becomes aware of the value of people and wants to give of what he has so that it may be of benefit to them. This may come in the form of a new product, an online course, some free training, mentoring, or a service based business. But, I think entrepreneurship, large and small, is the natural progression of the growth of a man.
In our modern day with our strong independence, the lack of neighborliness, and so many distractions, can men still form deep, lasting friendships? This is the question Mike and Brandon tackle in this Ask a Man Episode.
As an introvert who does a good job of playing an extrovert, I have some inside information as to how introverts work. In this episode I introduce a concept that I think helps introverts understand themselves and extroverts understand introverts.
Does size matter? Should it? How does a man feel get confident in the size of his member, or better yet, how can he make it a non-issue? In this episode, Mike and Brandon do their best to offer some advice while remembering they are adults.
What do cattle ranchers have to do with branding? Continuing on the entrepreneur theme, I talk about how "branding" got started and how the businesses that are really making it have evolved...and how the other businesses have not.
Ask a Man is back! Brandon McConnell and Mike Yarbrough answer your questions. One listener asks "How can a man still be proud to be an American, considering the state of things?" We also ask the question "Is Nationalism dead?" and get into some 'Merica stuff.
